Here's another French freefont for your consideration this Valentine's Day: it's Millesime and it's inspired by French Old Style lettering styles that came about a few hundred years ago. This particular revival is more textural, with a coarse, grainy tooth. Designer Gregory W. Jacobson of Dead Image Design wanted to keep those snarls in there. He noticed earlier interpretations of this type style made an effort to clean up the outlines, to make the font crisp and clear. But we like it better this way, after it's been filtered through the printed page. Ink and paper come together passionately, practically French-kissing each other as little bits of spittle frolic about. Oui oui oui! I think I'd call this one French New Style, but Greg chose the name millesime, which may or may not mean "vintage" in French.
